In an effort to test the properties of the Mylar faced HOT•STOP®
rope bag, the manufacturer placed a 30'-50' personal rope bag inside
the upper level of a flashover simulator during a 30 minute evolution.
To demonstrate the bag's ability to protect all type of rope, it
was packed with 5/16" nylon search rope.
A thermal imaging camera was used to document the
extreme heat & flames the rope bag and low temperature nylon rope were
exposed to. Repeated flashovers, direct flame impingement & burning
debris repeatedly came into contact with the bag during the 30 minute
evolution (a CD containing video footage of this test is available
free upon request).
Upon completion of this evolution, the Mylar faced rope bag along with
the nylon rope were completely unaffected thereby demonstrating the
fireproof properties of HOT•STOP®
personal/LAS rope & RIT Bags.
